Kalahandi District has traced out with a wonderful story of its origination. According to the tribal history of Kalahandi District, it was a princely state of the earlier days. Only after India's Independence on January 1, 1948. Kalahandi became an integral part of the Union of India. Later on November 1, 1949. Kalahandi was incorporated with Odisha. Kalahandi in modern era was the abode of the population of Stone Age and the largest cemetery of the megalithic age has been discovered in Kalahandi District. This shows the region had a civilized culture since the pre-historic era. Asurgarh near Narla in Kalahandi was one of the oldest metropolises in Odisha
Kalahandi is known for its crippling famines, poverty and hunger, this district in Orissa reaps bumper harvests, even emerging as the state's granary. The Total Literacy rate of Kalahandi district is 59.22%. The male literacy rate is 61.51% and the female literacy rate is 40.25% in Kalahandi district.
So Pastor Kishore and his wife Luis started praying for the holistic development of the area and they started reaching more and more villages and shared the word of God.
Because mostly in tribal area parents are illiterate and poor. Their children are mal nourished, sick, left on their own or elder sibling to take care while the parents are looking out for means of survival. The vaccinations of the children below five years are also not complete in most of the cases. Since the elder sibling take care of the smaller ones they too miss school very often. Some of them do not even go to school. There are around in per villages out of 50 children 20 go regular to school and 30 children discontinue schooling and they become dropout from school due to poor lack of guidance in villages and from their parents and they know about school but not aware about the worth of education in their life.
So Kishore and his wife Luis started working for poor and needy destitute Children, youth, men and women in Kalahandi and through this work they share the word of God to the people.
So we invite you to partners with us and support our vision and mission to expand the kingdom of God in Kalahandi, Odisha, India.
